LIBERTY BESPOKE aims at designing memorable jewellery based on an individual’s feelings of life-changing events. The majority of liberty’s work is inspired by the current events.

‘Grown up in conservative area in China old buildings and street scraps always catches my attention.’ Brought up by her grandparents who has the habits of keeping things from the past. Properties were extremely tight when her grandparents got married in 1970s. Homewares, furniture normally pasted on for several generations. As a kid Liberty and her cousin ran and wondered in those old Hutongs (small alleys) collecting ‘valuable objects’ such as stones or bricks. Her jewellery inspirations originate from this unique childhood experiences.

   Although found objects tell their own story through their worn-out appearance, Liberty’s practice always speaks for her. As a designer she uses metal casting process to show material transformation. Working in casting foundry from day-to-day basis strengthen her technical skills. Combine bronze with scraps found on London streets shows strong visual contrast that catches viewers’ attention. Helps expressing liberty’s personal connection with street objects with the aim to raise questions on objects value. She believes casting process shows material transformation. It increases objects value help people reflects on their consumeristic behavior when generates street wastes.  

  Bronze is Liberty’s favorite material to work with. Its golden colour catches both wearers and viewers’ attention. Bronze alloy composed of Copper and Tin. This metal combination increases it stiffness. Bronze jewellery is long lasting can be passed on generations. Adding cheap street materials into lost wax and cast them into bronze brings uniqueness to each jewellery piece. They are all hand-made by Liberty who engages with London streets with her own sensitive eyes.
